Cañon's 2024 Critter Crawl Fundraiser was an AMAZING success. We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our PTO who planned and prepared the fun run, to all of our parent/guardian volunteers who taught lessons and those who showed up to run with their student(s) and to i9 sports who played such a key role in making the event as fun as possible. We appreciate you all!
Our last Critter Crawl lesson focused on understanding emotions and using them as a form of encouragement. Volunteers read the book "Woohoo You're Doing Great!" by Sandra Boyton. Students then helped identify what some of the characters may have been feeling and how they could have made the character feel encouraged. A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, we could not do this without you.
Our third Critter Crawl lesson focused on movement! Students were able to mimic different animal movements, yoga poses and danced along to the hokey pokey while identiying the body parts required to make the movements. A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, we could not do this without you.
Our second Critter Crawl lesson focused on healthy strong bodies! Parent volunteers talked about all the important jobs body parts like our hearts, lungs, bones, and muscles do to help us grow strong. Students helped select different food choices that can help fuel a healthy body. A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, we could not do without you.
Our first Critter Crawl lesson focused on sportsmanship and the importance of being able to have fun even when we lose! Parent Volunteers read the book "Sally Sore Loser" and discussed ways that students can behave fairly and with respect. A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, we could not do this without you.
A big 'thank you' to our Family Awareness Network (FAN) for hosting the Mindfulness & Positivity Project this evening for our students, staff, and families!

A very special congratulations to Carol Kleiner for her induction into the Cheyenne Mountain Hall of Fame!
A big 'thank you' to the students, families, and staff who participated in our District-wide wildland fire evacuation and reunification exercise at the Broadmoor World Arena on September 13, 2024! We also want to thank Pikes Peak OEM, CSFD, CSPD, D2, D11, and the Broadmoor for their support in planning and successful execution of our drill! Safety continues to be a top priority in D12!
We are excited to introduce three essential members of our preschool team. Mr. Matthew Gordon is our Preschool Coordinator and Special Education Assistant Director. Ms. Ana is the Preschool Secretary you see at the front desk. Ms. Lisa is the Health Aid who works closely with the school nurse.
Please meet our staff that provide special services for students at Cañon. We have two Speech Language Pathologists, Ms. Shannon Martinez-Myers and Ms. Tonya Jones. Ms. Stephanie Harrison is our School Psychologist and Ms. Liz Waddington is our School Nurse.
We have had a great start to the school year. It’s time to get to know the staff here at Cañon School. Today we will start with our teachers and paraprofessionals who are in the classroom every day supporting the learning of our little critters. In Room 1 we have Ms. Holly and Ms. Daycie. In Room 2 we have Ms. Molly and Ms. Ali. In Room 3 we have Ms. Tricia and Ms. Kelly. In Room 4 we have Ms. Andrea and Ms. Abby. In Room 5 we have Ms. Lindsay and Ms. Meghan. In Room 8 we have Ms. Dana and Ms. Larissa.
